The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is the largest voluntary organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Its mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLSC funds research across Canada and provides information on blood cancers and support services without charge.
LLSC funds promising lifesaving research at leading cancer centers and universities across Canada. Since 1955, LLSC has awarded more than $25 million in research funding for all blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. Research funded by LLSC has saved lives and greatly improved patient care.
LLSC sponsors free community-based education programs for patients, their families, caregivers and healthcare professionals. Local doctors and other healthcare professionals lead these programs. They offer information about treatment options and ways to strengthen decision-making and coping skills, manage treatment side effects and find resources.
Our goal is to provide access to the information and services patients need to fight and manage their disease. Through its First Contact program LLSC twins patients and blood cancer survivors to provide additional support to patients and their families. These services are offered free of charge thanks to fundraising activities, including annual fundraising events which allow those touched by blood cancers to celebrate their hope for a cure, or commemorate loved ones.
More information on these events can be found on the LLSC website. Every year we move closer to our goal of finding a cure for blood cancer, and together we can succeed.
